چکیده

Debris flows pose a serious threat to human life and infrastructure in downstream areas following wildfire. This underscores the necessity for having hazard assessment framework place that can be used estimate impacts of post-wildfire debris flows. Current assessments western United States (USA) use empirical models assess volume potential Volume provide information regarding magnitude In this study, we gathered debris-flow data from 54 watersheds across states Arizona (AZ) New Mexico (NM), USA, compared these output widely model. Results show model, which was developed using Transverse Ranges southern California (CA), tends overestimate observed volumes AZ NM, sometimes by several orders magnitude. disparity may explained regional differences between CA including sediment supply. However, found power- law relationship watershed area put first-order constraints on NM.
